ColorQuick.com Focuses On Color Support ColorQuick.com is an online service combining automated estimating with the other aspects of E-commerce printing, such as job submission, preflighting and remote proofing. The new service provides instant quotes for a wide range of common job types for sheet-fed offset presses. Submitted jobs are automatically preflighted; a PDF proof is generated and returned to the customer; and the printer receives a fully trapped and imposed file that is cost-optimized for his equipment. Each member printer administers his own section of the cost and configuration databases. ColoQuick.com is offering a service that automates the pricing, order-entry and prepress functions for general commercial print and publishing work. ColorQuick's Internet-enabled workflow allows a printer or publisher to provide real time service, with less cost, and virtually no capital investment. Creating value for the client by using the Internet starts with making a print product easy to purchase. While not for every possible custom product, ColorQuick's simple interface allows a print purchaser to quickly specify a product, get a price, and if applicable, upload a PDF or Postscript file. In a few minutes,, the client will receive a preflight report and, half an hour later, a soft proof of the trapped print production file. This is not a template-based service, but will work with virtually any software that can produce postscript or PDF output. Focusing on a completely digital workflow, ColorQuick has devised an expert system that eliminates direct labor from the traditional estimating and prepress functions. Currently operating only on process color work, the system will shortly be expanded to provide spot color services. The net effect of this is that work that now take two to three days to be processed by most conventional print shops, is completed in about a half an hour. This has major implications in terms of workflow, alteration and approval cycles, organization structure, and cost.
